Because of that, there’s never been a more important time for financial professionals to learn the skills of effective communication. The Playbook for Working with Couples: Navigating Dynamics and Creating Change
    •  SUMMARY:  For financial professionals, working with couples can be just as rewarding as it is difficult. Balancing not just one, but two individuals’s opinions, emotions, and needs requires a different level of knowledge and skill compared to that of working with individual clients. While the work that financial professionals do with individuals vs. couples may be the same, the communication, role of the professional, and dynamic is vastly different. Understanding how to work with couples vs. individuals is imperative to the success and retention of the financial professional.

In this presentation, financial professionals will learn the basic relational patterns that most couples follow, along with strategies for navigating each pattern. Beyond the relational patterns, financial professionals will also learn specific communication considerations as well as the role that the financial professional should play when working with a couple.

Advisor Biases: The Impact on the Client’s Plan and their Relationship with You
      • SUMMARY:  Understanding biases in behavioral finance can improve an advisor’s ability to serve their client. But what about an advisor’s biases? What impact do advisor biases have on the plans they create and the working relationship with clients? With much of the education and focus centering around understanding client biases, this presentation will shift to helping advisors understand how to identify their own biases. Specifically, advisors will learn types of relational and cognitive biases that impact decision making and professional relationships, like the advisor-client one. Advisors will learn strategies for navigating how to handle biases within themselves when they do come up and the risk associated with leaving them unchecked.
